About the Artist
Ian G. Kershaw – BA (fine art), Grad. Dip Ed.
Ian graduated with a Degree in Fine Art from Phillip Institute in 1984 and obtained a Diploma of Education in 1994 from the University of Melbourne. Early on in his career in photography, he worked in the secondary education sector instructing students in black and white photographic and darkroom techniques. Following this, he has worked for the last 25 years in tertiary education as photographer, multi media and video producer.
Throughout his career, his dedication to produce quality images has never waned. His passion has always been photography. He is especially skilled at photographing Australia's natural scenery. “The beauty of our land is simply awe inspiring. I want to capture it and share it with others” he states. Ian's composition of images are almost exactly as when initially taken. There is little cropping of images and no effects. He has a natural ability for capturing the right exposure, allowing for the varying characteristics of light and film colour.
Ian's other passion, is surfing. He started surfing in his teens and continues today. His love of surfing inspired his beach series. These quality images are soul regenerating. Surfing the Victorian coast he became known as Taz, as he was always the surfer who was furthest out to sea towards Tasmania, ready to catch the longest ride back into shore. It only seems natural to surf his gallery online at TazGallery.com.au.
His selection of photos span almost 30 years and reflect many beautiful and interesting aspects of life. Ian’s art work will enhance any corporate board room or domestic setting. His skill and passion will become apparent to you as you survey his work
